Brighton Speed Trials
Organised by Brighton & Hove Motor Club, the National Speed Trials are the first and original motoring event to have
started in Madeira Drive. The event dates back to 1905 and Madeira Drive was resurfaced with what was then a new tarmac
material so the first speed trials could take place. The Speed Trials are the 100 metre sprint of the motor racing world and
with the distance being just a quarter of a mile, not long after the drivers get up to speed they are looking to brake!
In 2009 I received my Nat 'B' Non-race Licence from the MSA and took up sprinting and hillclimbing and as a result of this I took part in the speed trials
in 2011 and 2012. See here
